Bob Wilson's education, experience and training have prepared him for many challenges. None of those challenges were more important than founding Hospice of the Comforter.
An Ohio native, Bob completed his Bachelor's degree at Columbia Union College in Maryland. He then obtained two Master's degrees from Andrews University in Michigan. Following his university work, Bob pastored a number of churches until he was called to direct the Department of Religion and Ethics at Kettering College of Medical Arts in Ohio in 1978. There he taught classes in religion, medical ethics, philosophy and death and dying. He also served as a college chaplain.
In 1985, he left Kettering College to direct the Chaplaincy Department of a south Florida hospital. That was followed by an appointment at Florida Hospital in Orlando. Bob began gaining experience in hospice work in 1988. In 1989, along with local businessman Bob Watson, he founded Hospice of the Comforter. After caring for only 10 patients in its first full year of service, Hospice of the Comforter has grown to now care for more than 500 patients a day in Central Florida.
Bob currently serves as the Vice President of Florida Hospices and Palliative Care. |
