Doug Stone joined Hospice of the Comforter as our Director of Finance in 2008. He received his undergraduate degree from Kent University, majoring in Gerontology. He spent his last year of school as a Lyndon Baines Johnson Congressional Intern working for his local Congresswoman on the House Select Committee on Aging. In 1981 he completed an Administrator-in-Training program to become a Nursing Home Administrator. His first assignment as an administrator was in Maryland at age 23. He subsequently became a licensed administrator in four other states including Florida.

Doug was one of the founders of Oakwood Living Centers, working as both the Vice President of Operations and Senior Vice President of Reimbursement. After attending Salve Regina University and working toward his Masters in Accounting, he joined Mariner Healthcare as a Senior Vice President of Reimbursement. During this time he worked on a number of national committees on Medicare payment policy and was a frequent national speaker.
