With YOUR Help, All Things Are Possible

“Why did my brother have to leave me? I am so sad… I feel so guilty… was it my fault? I feel really alone and no one understands…”
Those universal words of grief ring true not only for adults, but for children. Imagine how wonderful you would feel knowing YOU can make a difference in the life of a grieving child.
Your gifts give HOPE to children like Stephanie, whose world was turned upside down with the deaths of her young brother, and then her grandmother. As her parents struggled to deal with their own profound grief, they were not emotionally available to provide the necessary support Stephanie needed.
Alone in her grief, Stephanie reports that it was “helpful to attend the support group at school, because my parents are too sad and can’t talk to me about it. They just can’t be there for me, but my grief class helped me learn how to handle and express my feelings and memories.”
Grief and profound sadness touch us all when experiencing the loss of a loved one. Children, often the forgotten grievers, are sometimes left to handle grief on their own. But because of people like you, Hospice of the Comforter provides grief support to children of all ages through our Horizons Children’s Loss Program in the public school systems of Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties. Your gifts change lives!
Our Horizons Bereavement Center is funded 100% through your generous gifts and grants from the community. As a licensed mental health counselor, I see the amazing impact these groups have on children and teens. This program provides a safe, supportive environment where youth can learn to deal with their grief alongside peers experiencing similar situations. Learning how to achieve personal growth and adjust to their new reality of life is the goal.
With your financial support, our six-week, in-school educational groups are provided free of charge to any grieving students.
Put simply, your generous gift today ensures our important work will continue for children like Stephanie and more than 800 grieving children served by these programs in our community.
Thank you for making a profound impact on the lives of our children, so they never have to grieve alone.
Sincerely,
Regina Nimmo, LMHC

P.S. Stephanie continues to find ways to express her feelings and memories of her brother and grandmother through her art and music. YOUR GIFTS MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
