HOSPICE OF THE COMFORTER DONATES $20,000 OF DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES

Hospice of the Comforter is partnering with Florida Hospital’s Global Mission Initiatives program to donate surplus durable medical equipment to benefit hospitals and medical facilities in developing countries such as Ethiopia and Haiti. The equipment including 35 hospital beds, patient Hoyer lifts and power wheel chairs, valued at over $20,000, was picked-up on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. at Hospice of the Comforter located at 595 Montgomery Road in Altamonte Springs, Fla. Florida Hospital will determine where the equipment is most needed and ship it to those countries.

“We are so happy that this surplus medical equipment will be put to good use by needy populations throughout the world,” stated Greg Ogiste, director of home medical equipment for Hospice of the Comforter. “The local community does so much to support us and we are honored to be able to extend that compassionate support across our borders to those who need it.”
