Hospice of the Comforter can help with the symptoms of grief through its Horizons Bereavement Center. Short-term counseling, support groups, telephone follow-up and educational materials are among the many tools used to assist in the grieving process.
The goal of the Horizons Adult Bereavement Program is to provide bereavement counseling and support to families of Hospice of the Comforter patients for 13 months following the death. Through "normalizing" the grief process, personal growth and adjustment are enhanced. These services are provided by trained staff and volunteers at no cost to the patient's family. Services are also open to the general public at no charge.
Horizons focuses on each person's unique needs by educating them about the grieving process, supporting those who are rebuilding life without their loved one, and creating a comfortable environment to share emotions.
