A Place for Mom
Helping seniors and families like yours make informed decisions, save time, and feel less alone as in searching for senior care and senior housing. From finding the right nursing home, dementia care or assisted living facility to researching Veteran's benefits and financing senior care.

Administration on Aging
This US government agency Web site has many useful resources for older Americans and family caregivers.

Advance Directives
Every competent adult has the right to make decisions concerning his or her own health, including the right to choose or refuse medical treatment. An Advance Directive states how you want medical decisions to be made should you not be able to make them yourself. Some people make advance directives when they are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Others put their wishes into writing while they are healthy, often as part of their estate planning.

American Association of Retired Persons (AARP)
AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization focused on improving the quality of life for all people as they get older. The Health and Wellness page provides a wide range of links to information on issues such as caregiving, Medicare and coping with loss.

Aging with Dignity
Aging with Dignity is a nonprofit organization with the goal of improving care for those near the end of life. Five Wishes, an easy-to-use advance directive, is available at this site in mulitple languages for a nominal fee.

CarePages
CarePages is a Web site that allows loved ones to connect with patients as well as provides unique resources (discussion forums, blogs, articles and more) to educate and guide patients through their health journey, as well as give loved ones the tools to offer hope and emotional support when they're needed most.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
This government agency provides the most accurate and up-to-date information on health prevention and wellness. Special topics also include caregiving, healthy aging and disease specific information.

For questions about Medicare, Medicaid and other government insurance programs.

Florida Hospices and Palliative Care
Hospice of the Comforter is a member of FHPC, which provides educational opportunities to its members, provides policy guidance and works to remove barriers to hospice care on a state level.

Jewish Family Services of Orlando
Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando partners with Hospice of the Comforter to provide a program that is committed to serving the Jewish community of Central Florida.

National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization
Hospice of the Comforter is a member of NHPCO, which provides educational opportunities to its members, provides policy and advocacy guidance and works to remove barriers in hospice care on a national level.

Seminole County TRIAD
Identifying and developing programs to address the special needs and concerns of the aging and disabled population. Issues such as personal safety, health concerns, transportation needs, crime prevention, and education through the cooperation of  law enforcement, fire/EMS/public safety, state attorney’s office, senior service agencies and providers.

Shiva Connect
ShivaConnect.com is a complimentary service for mourners and those wishing to express their condolences, providing instant communication to people near and far. Answers to who, what, where, when and how many are posted on a personal "Shiva Registry"  to organize the bereavement period. The website features the ability to learn about sitting shiva, locate shiva food providers, find helpful resources and request an annual Yahrzeit reminder via email, with "just a click."
