Hospices provide comfort and support at the end of life, and are on a mission to learn how to serve Veterans through the challenges they may be facing from illness, isolation or traumatic life experience.
Hospice of the Comforter realizes that each patient has a unique life story and a unique set of needs. We have partnered with We Honor Veterans, a pioneering program focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment. Hospice of the Comforter works to recognize the unique needs, learn how to accompany and guide America’s Veterans and their families through their life stories, and move toward a more peaceful ending.
Our Veteran Volunteer Program matches veteran volunteers with veteran patients. The veteran volunteer befriends a veteran patient, visiting on a regular basis to provide companionship and, most of all, a chance to tell their stories of veteran service and have their stories heard and understood by a fellow veteran.
America’s Veterans have done everything asked of them in their mission to serve our country and we believe it is never too late to give them a hero’s welcome home. Now it is time that we step up to serve these men and women with the dignity they deserve.
