It is that wonderful time again, when we reach out into the communities we serve, seeking volunteers to help us in our mission of caring for incurably ill patients and their families. Hospice of the Comforter is a non-profit hospice serving Orange, Seminole and Osceola Counties. Learn more about how we do this and how you can help in your own individual way!

Topics discussed during the 16 hours of Orientation and Training include:

  • History & Philosophy of Hospice Mission and Goals of Hospice of the Comforter

  • Concepts of Death and Dying

  • Grief, Loss and Bereavement within Hospice

  • Ethical, Legal and Spiritual Issues

  • Medical and Family Concerns

  • Volunteer Opportunities and Responsibilities

  • 11th Hour Care (Patient Hands-On Techniques)

It is necessary to register and reserve your place. Please call Director of Volunteer Services Marie Houck at 407-682-0808, or email her at mariehouck@hospiceofthecomforter.org to sign up. You will receive a confirmation of your registration and a map of the location. There is no charge for this training.

If you have any questions, please call one of our Volunteer Coordinators: Carol Avery, Susan Brydon, Sheila Cadoret, Barbara Hauck, Sher Miller, Debra Smith or Isabel Osth at 407-682-0808.
